Since becoming a new mum its becomes more apparent that dealing with an overtired baby isn't fun! As soon as I learnt about awake windows it all changed for me, depending on the age of the child depends on the time the child should be awake between naps. My 4 month old should now only be awake a maximum of 2 hours between naps, currently shes working on a 1 hour 40 minute awake window. Now I imagine every baby is different but it really works for me and it really helps me know that if she cries around that time thats why and if I put her to sleep closer to that time she falls asleep quicker and easier than if I was to entertain her for a bit longer and stretch the awake window.
Obviously when we are out and about it does become a lot more difficult to keep an eye on the time but I try to stick to it as best as possible!
As she has got older its clear when the awake window stretches on its own, for example at her newborn stage it was a maximum of 50 minutes and slowly it has naturally extended itself.
Until next time,
All our love,
Baby C and Me X
