There is absolutely no guide in the world to help you with this but the usual rule of thumb is once you have had your 12 week scan.
Prior to being pregnant, I always knew I wanted me and my partner to know, and only us. In reality, the love bubble of pregnancy soon shoots that idea right to the ground. You want to scream it from every window or street corner, but you also have to learn to refrain from the excitement.
Due to my incapability of 'lying' and a long weekend away with family, I knew the 12 week secret was not going to last. From the no drinking to quickly showing belly the secret was bound to unravel before it even had the chance of being a secret. (Besides from the eagle eyed training buddy who quickly asked why I was no longer sprinting on the treadmill - or down to the people who casually drop it into conversation because they have guessed and assume everyone else knows too and lastly to every Tom, Dick or Harry you happen to bump into in the Maternity ward when going for any midwife appointment - we all know in Gibraltar, things do not stay secret for long).
So in actual fact, close family members were told between the 6-10 week mark and close friends followed from the 10-12 week mark because although you get to the time you want to tell them, actually being able to tell them in the way you want to then becomes the next mission.
Therefore the only advice I have is it will happen when it happens! Embrace it and try not to overthink it like I did!
All our love,
Baby C and Me X
